Developments in Crimea and Belarus

According to Главком: Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SZR) has acquired new materials related to the crisis in Crimea, along with internal Russian documents assessing the mood of Russian citizens. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced these significant findings, which point to deepening problems in the annexed peninsula. According to the president, the records reveal an almost daily escalation of issues with fuel, military logistics, and governance in the region.

“The Russian occupation administration quite clearly and unequivocally admits it cannot resolve the problems created by our medium-range sanctions against the occupier,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Additionally, Belarus has taken steps indicating preparations for a potential expansion of aggression against Ukraine. Construction of road infrastructure, ammunition depots, and fuel storage facilities is nearing completion, which, as the president noted, serves no purpose other than military.

Zelenskyy emphasized that these actions by Belarus are part of Russia's so-called special military operation.

Against this backdrop, anxiety levels among Russians are rising. According to the obtained data, over 50% of Russians report high levels of anxiety-higher than during the Kursk operation. Furthermore, 66% of Russians describe their financial situation as difficult, and more than 80% believe a major economic crisis in Russia is inevitable.

“These are completely transparent indicators reflecting the failure of Putin’s military policy,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Ukrainian president also called on Belarus to take steps to de-escalate the situation, stressing the need to halt the construction of aggressive border infrastructure. “Belarus knows what steps are required from its side for peace,” he concluded. These events highlight ongoing regional tensions and the urgent need for active efforts to ensure stability.

The situation in Crimea and along border areas remains a focal point for the international community. Rising anxiety among Russian citizens may signal internal socio-economic problems that could impact the country’s political stability. The Ukrainian president’s calls for Belarus to de-escalate also underscore the importance of regional security and the potential for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, especially amid growing tensions.

As tensions continue to rise in Crimea, Ukraine is adapting its military approach to stretch Russian forces along the Belarus border. This shift is crucial in light of the recent intelligence findings, which highlight the deteriorating situation in occupied territories and the potential for increased aggression from Belarus. Understanding these strategic developments is essential for comprehending the broader implications for regional security.
