Angelina Kalinina Falls Short at 2026 French Open

According to Главком: Angelina Kalinina (WTA 60) suffered an early exit from the 2026 French Open after a three-set loss to France’s Diane Parry (WTA 92) in the opening round. The match lasted 2 hours and 23 minutes, ending with a final score of 6:0, 2:6, 4:6. This tournament, held annually at Roland Garros in Paris, is one of tennis’s four Grand Slam events.

Kalinina stormed through the first set in just 27 minutes, winning it 6:0 with a commanding performance. However, Parry turned the tide in the second set, claiming it 6:2 by winning four consecutive games after a 2:2 tie. The deciding set stretched over 1 hour and 4 minutes, with Parry once again prevailing 6:4 to seal the victory.

This marked the fifth career meeting between Kalinina and Parry, with the Ukrainian falling to her opponent for the second time. Kalinina’s previous loss to Parry also came at Roland Garros, three years ago in the first round. This was Kalinina’s tenth appearance at the French Open, where her best results have been third-round finishes in 2021, 2022, and 2025.

In other first-round matches at the 2026 French Open:

Meanwhile, the strong performances of other Ukrainian players at this year’s French Open highlight the growing depth and promise of Ukrainian tennis on the global stage.

Following her recent early exit at Roland Garros, Kalinina's journey in 2026 has been challenging, especially after her withdrawal from the Morocco final. This series of setbacks highlights the ups and downs of competitive tennis, as she aims to regain her form and build on her experience from major tournaments.
