13 Russian Shadow Fleet Vessels Hit by Ukrainian Drones Near Crimea
Ukrainian Drones Strike Successfully
According to Главком: On the night of July 10, Ukrainian drones struck 13 vessels from Russia's shadow fleet as they approached Crimea, according to Robert Brovdi (also known as Madar), Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces. The attack targeted a mix of ships, including:
- 10 tankers
- 1 cargo ship
- 1 ferry
- 1 sea tug
Brovdi confirmed that over the past five days, the Unmanned Systems Forces have carried out 48 successful attacks on watercraft.
Electrical Substations Hit
In addition, Ukrainian drones struck five electrical substations as part of the 'Crimean Switch Off' project. The affected substations include:
- Berehove
- Saky
- Maynaky
- Novoozerna
- Medvedeve
Furthermore, 41 military targets were hit in the operational depths of occupied Crimea and in the southern parts of temporarily occupied territories.
'The Azov branch of Chornobaivka, now 48: +13 shadow fleet units were hunted down on the approaches to Crimea during the night of July 10,' Robert Brovdi (Madar) stated.
On July 7, Ukrainian drones also targeted five electrical substations and a gas distribution station in temporarily occupied Crimea. These operations highlight the ongoing efforts by Ukrainian forces to damage infrastructure and military capabilities of Russian forces in the region.
'48 watercraft were struck by SBS Birds within 120 hours,' Brovdi summarized.
These strikes demonstrate the growing effectiveness of Ukrainian unmanned systems in combat operations in the Black Sea and Crimea. By hitting vessels used by Russian forces, these successful attacks could significantly limit their logistical capabilities and affect military operations in the area. At the same time, the strikes on electrical substations show Ukraine's intent to damage critical infrastructure supporting Russian forces, which could have strategic implications in the future.
The recent strikes on Russian vessels are part of a broader strategy by Ukrainian forces to disrupt maritime operations in the Black Sea. Notably, earlier, a Ukrainian drone successfully targeted a tanker from the shadow fleet, showcasing the effectiveness of unmanned systems in this ongoing conflict.
