According to Главком: Ukrainian judokas brought home six medals from the European Cadet Championships (under 18), held from June 29 to July 2 on Gran Canaria, Spain. Over 400 athletes from 43 nations competed, with Ukraine fielding a 20-member squad.

Khazar Heydarov claimed gold in the 60 kg weight class. Silver medals were earned by:

  • Ukraine’s mixed team event squad, featuring Khazar Heydarov, Matviy Turchyn, Nikita Sakharov, Illya Shvets, Tetiana Hlushchenko, Viktoriya Voropayeva, Arina Mashurenko, and Yana Kholyavko;
  • Kseniya Kyrylchuk (52 kg);
  • Diana Samoylyuk (70 kg);
  • Yana Dovhun (over 70 kg).

Arina Mashurenko took bronze in the 63 kg category.

Ukraine’s Women’s Tennis Team Prepares for Key Clash

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s women’s tennis team is gearing up for the Billie Jean King Cup quarterfinals against Belgium. A victory could set up a semifinal match with Italy. The finals are scheduled for September 22–27 in Shenzhen, China.

The quarterfinal pairings for the Billie Jean King Cup are as follows:

  • Italy vs. China;
  • Ukraine vs. Belgium;
  • Kazakhstan vs. Spain;
  • Czech Republic vs. Great Britain.

The strong performance by Ukrainian judokas at the European Championships highlights the growth of young athletes in Ukraine and their ability to compete at the highest international level.
