Ukraine’s Track and Field Athletes Bring Home Seven Medals from Greece Championship

According to Главком: Between June 19 and 21, over 300 competitors from 22 nations gathered in Greece for the Balkan Athletics Federation Championships. Ukraine sent a delegation of 24 athletes, who collectively secured seven medals at the event.
Leading the Ukrainian medalists were several standout performers:
- Iryna Klymets claimed gold in the hammer throw with a distance of 68.50 meters.
- Dmytro Bahinskyi earned gold in the 110-meter hurdles, setting a personal best of 13.62 seconds.
- Tetiana Bilyk took gold in the heptathlon, amassing 6,061 points-another personal record.
Ukraine also secured silver in the competition:
- Alina Kyshkina finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.96 seconds.
Bronze medals went to the following athletes:
- Oleksandr Pohorilko in the 400-meter sprint, clocking 45.76 seconds-his best result of the season.
- Valentyn Loboda in the pole vault, clearing 5.45 meters.
- The men’s 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Volodymyr Vovchenko, Oleksandr Pohorilko, Anton Smiyan, and Mykyta Barabanov, finished in 3:05.57 minutes.
Other Sporting Highlights
Beyond track and field, Ukraine’s women’s tennis team is set to face Belgium in the quarterfinals of the Billie Jean King Cup. The final stage matches will take place from September 22 to 27 in Shenzhen, China. Other quarterfinal pairings include:
- Italy vs. China
- Kazakhstan vs. Spain
- Czech Republic vs. Great Britain
