Olympic freestyle season has started: how Ukraine is fighting for licenses

Ukrainian athletes are actively preparing for the Olympic season 2025/26, which began in Stubai, Austria with freestyle in the slopestyle discipline. The next stage is scheduled for November 28 in China, where the big air competition will take place.

This season is crucial for qualification for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, where 60 Olympic licenses in freestyle will be contested among men and women. The qualification period will last until January 18, 2026, with the first three stages of the World Cup being direct qualifying events.

Ukraine plans to participate in all starts and both disciplines at the World Cup in the 2025/26 season. The coaching staff has high hopes for the team leaders and relies on their success.

Results in the initial stages will be decisive for obtaining Olympic licenses.

Both disciplines in freestyle - slopestyle and big air - are included in the Olympic Games program, so Ukrainian athletes have a chance to compete for medals in these competitions.
