Ukrainian Athletes Achieve Wins in Beach Wrestling and Gymnastics at Dakar Youth Olympics but Fall Short of Finals

According to НОК: The seventh day of competition at the 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games in Dakar took place on November 7. Ukrainian competitors took part in beach wrestling and artistic gymnastics, securing victories in both sports, yet they were unable to advance to the final rounds.

Beach Wrestling and Artistic Gymnastics Performances

In beach wrestling, Kiril Nagirny competed in the under-60 kg division. He won his opening match against an Angolan opponent but ultimately finished third in the group stage, ending his run at the Games. Dmitro Holovenko, fighting in the under-80 kg category, earned two wins against wrestlers from Georgia and Palau. However, after losing to a Senegalese competitor, Holovenko placed second in Group B and did not qualify for the semifinals.

In artistic gymnastics, Maksym Borysov participated in the qualification round, ranking 31st in the individual all-around with a score of 70.832. Only the top 18 gymnasts moved forward to the finals, leaving Borysov outside the cutoff. Ukrainian athletes are set to compete in four different sports on November 8.
