Over 600 kg of Baby Supplies Airlifted by Ukrainian Forces to Besieged Oleshky Ahead of Ceasefire Starting October 27
Ukrainian Troops Carry Out Critical Humanitarian Delivery
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: In a vital relief effort, Ukrainian soldiers used drones to transport more than 600 kilograms of baby food, essential goods, and toys to the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky in the Kherson region. This shipment is intended to support families with young children trapped within the city, where a dire humanitarian crisis persists. The mission was executed by the special operations unit "Bolgarychi" of the 11th National Guard Brigade of Ukraine.
The cargo consisted of 15 packages weighing over 600 kilograms in total. "These include dry cereals, milk, educational games, and toys," explained Ivan Vyhivskyi, a serviceman involved in the delivery. Among the residents of Oleshky are children born since the full-scale Russian invasion began. "Some of the children currently in the besieged city have never known life without war and terror. We are committed to supporting these families by providing them with essential supplies," Vyhivskyi added.
Current Conditions in Oleshky
Approximately 2,000 people remain trapped in Oleshky, enduring a blockade since April 2026 that has cut off access to food, drinking water, and medicine. Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia are now nearing final agreements on the evacuation of civilians from the occupied Oleshky community. Both sides are working to establish terms for a ceasefire and to facilitate the safe extraction of residents who wish to leave. The ceasefire is scheduled to take effect on October 27 and will cover Oleshky, the Kherson region, and neighboring areas.
"Despite the hardships imposed by Russian occupation on Kherson’s residents, our units continue to provide support," Ivan Vyhivskyi emphasized.
The ceasefire agreement was brokered with significant involvement from U.S. First Lady Melania Trump, who engaged with both Russian and Ukrainian authorities through her representative. This humanitarian delivery and the prospects for civilian evacuation represent crucial strides toward alleviating the ongoing crisis in the region.
The challenges faced by Oleshky’s population illustrate the severe impact of the prolonged siege and humanitarian emergency. The dedication of Ukrainian military forces highlights the importance of sustaining aid efforts for civilians affected by the conflict. Ongoing dialogue regarding the ceasefire opens pathways to improve humanitarian conditions and provide much-needed assistance to vulnerable communities.
As the humanitarian situation in Oleshky continues to deteriorate, it is crucial to understand the broader implications of the ongoing crisis. Recent reports indicate a significant disinformation campaign by Russian forces that complicates efforts to address the needs of the local population. This context underscores the importance of humanitarian deliveries and the challenges faced by those trapped in the conflict.
