Ukrainian Military Operations

According to Главком: In a landmark event, Ukrainian forces have completely destroyed a bridge in the occupied part of Kherson Oblast using unmanned aerial vehicles. This marks the first known instance where a drone operation has led to the total demolition of a bridge. The strike was carried out in early 2025 using British-made Malloy T-150 cargo drones. The target was a bridge spanning the Konka River, a tributary of the Dnipro, with the drones reportedly flying directly beneath its structure to deliver their payload.

The mission was executed by the 426th Marine Unmanned Systems Regiment, which had been actively deploying these drones for a two-month period at the start of 2025. Colonel Oleksiy Bulakhov noted the tactical reasoning behind the method, stating,

"Bridges are relatively easy to destroy from below, but they are designed to be extremely strong from the outside."

This innovative tactic highlights a significant evolution in how drones are being utilized in the conflict.

Additional Operations

In a separate but related development, special forces from Ukraine's Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) disabled the 'Slavyanin' railway ferry in the Kerch Strait on the night of April 5-6, 2026. The 'Slavyanin' was the last operational ferry of its kind in the region. This action followed previous strikes in March 2026, where GUR operatives had also disabled the 'Avangard' ferry and inflicted damage on the 'Slavyanin'.

Furthermore, on the night of March 13-14, 2026, GUR special forces conducted an operation in the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait, launching fire attacks on infrastructure at the port of 'Kavkaz' in Russia's Krasnodar Krai. These coordinated actions demonstrate an intensification of Ukrainian military activity in the region and a strategic focus on crippling enemy logistics.

These events underscore a shift in military tactics, particularly the use of unmanned systems for executing strategic objectives. The destruction of the bridge and the disabling of the ferries are part of a broader Ukrainian strategy aimed at weakening the adversary's logistical capabilities. Such operations can significantly impact the course of the conflict, highlighting the critical role of innovative technology in modern warfare. The targeting of key transport links is a classic military objective, now being achieved with new, asymmetric means.

This strategic success follows a series of escalating operations by Ukrainian forces, including the recent destruction of the last Russian railway ferry in the Kerch Strait. Such coordinated actions underscore a significant shift in military tactics and highlight the increasing effectiveness of Ukraine's intelligence and special operations units in disrupting enemy logistics.
