Nearly 10 Billion Hryvnias in Concessional Loans Secured by Ukrainian Arms Manufacturers
Defense Industry Gains Access to Low-Cost Financing
According to Кабмін: Ukrainian weapons producers have obtained 9.8 billion hryvnias in subsidized loans, as announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. A total of 162 credit agreements have been signed under this initiative. The funds are allocated for the development, production, repair, modernization, and disposal of armaments, military and special equipment, as well as ammunition and their components.
Defense companies can access up to 500 million hryvnias over a five-year period to expand production capacity. Additionally, businesses may receive up to 100 million hryvnias for a three-year term to bolster working capital.
Yulia Svyrydenko: 'This is an investment in Ukraine's ability to independently meet the needs of its military. The faster our arms manufacturers scale up production, the more modern weapons and military equipment the Defense Forces will receive.'
She further noted, 'We see that this tool is working effectively. Its results are visible and felt by our enemy.' These measures underscore Ukraine's intensified efforts to strengthen its national defense capabilities.
Strategic Importance of Investing in the Defense Sector
The provision of concessional loans to the defense industry is a cornerstone of Ukraine's strategy to enhance its military capacity. This approach not only facilitates the upgrade of existing weaponry but also drives the development of cutting-edge technologies, a critical priority amid the ongoing conflict.
Supporting domestic arms producers is expected to boost Ukraine's self-sufficiency in military affairs and reduce reliance on foreign supplies.
