Danylo Donchenko Secures Victory at UFC Fight Night 280

According to Главком: Ukrainian mixed martial artist Danylo Donchenko delivered an emphatic win by knocking out Sweden's Theodor Berggren in the second round at UFC Fight Night 280, held in Baku. This victory marks Donchenko's third in the UFC, solidifying his growing reputation on the international stage. The event showcased rising talent from Eastern Europe, drawing attention to Ukraine's emerging presence in the sport.

Donchenko competed in the welterweight division (up to 77.1 kg) for this bout, which was his second fight in 2026. Earlier, in February 2026, he earned a unanimous decision victory over Alex Morono at UFC Fight Night 266 in Las Vegas. Notably, last year Donchenko won the 33rd season of The Ultimate Fighter, boosting both his confidence and experience.

Yaroslav Amosov's Achievements

Beyond Donchenko's success, Yaroslav Amosov has also made headlines by climbing four spots to enter the UFC's top-10 welterweight rankings. In May of this year, Amosov secured his second career UFC win, submitting Spain's Joel Alvarez in the second round with a chokehold. This victory was the 30th of his mixed martial arts career, with only one professional loss on his record.

Before defeating Alvarez, Amosov held the 14th position in the rankings. Ireland's Ian Machado Garry, who has won 17 of 18 fights, currently tops the list, while the UFC welterweight champion is Russia's Islam Makhachev.

Donchenko's triumph at UFC Fight Night 280 underscores his steady growth in professional sports and highlights the increasing prominence of Ukrainian fighters globally. Achievements by athletes like Amosov also reflect the high level of training and competition in Ukraine, which could boost the development of mixed martial arts in the country. These successes may inspire young fighters to participate more actively in international tournaments, raising the overall competitiveness of Ukrainian athletes in the world of MMA.
