Ukrainian Meteorologists Debunk -30°C Forecast, Detail Upcoming Cold Snap
Weather Forecast for Ukraine
According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukraine's Hydrometeorological Center has refuted claims of a potential temperature drop to -30 degrees Celsius. Meteorologists forecast a significant cold spell, with the peak of the freeze expected on January 18-19.
In the northern regions, temperatures could fall to -21...-25°C on the night of January 18. During the day on January 19, temperatures are expected to range from -10...-16°C. In the southwest, nighttime temperatures will be around -6...-13°C, with daytime temperatures of -2...-8°C.
Official Forecasts and Guidance
While the Ventusky forecast had suggested a possible 'Arctic invasion' from Siberia, Hydrometeorological Center officials stressed that information circulating online is often speculative. This clarification is crucial for public planning and safety during winter months.
'What is on the internet is just conjecture. One should only look at official resources. We can only forecast for the next five days,' noted meteorologist Nataliia Ptukha.
Therefore, Ukrainians can expect a cold snap, but not as severe as some earlier predictions indicated. Meteorologists urge the public to trust only official data and to be prepared for changes in weather conditions in the coming days.
This information is vital for citizens, as the temperature drop may impact daily life, including transport, energy supply, and public health. Since weather forecasts can change, it is important to monitor updates from official sources to be ready for potential extreme conditions.
