Sergeant Vyacheslav found himself in captivity of Russian troops after an attack on his position, which was bombed. The director of the I.I. Mechnikov Hospital, Sergey Ryutenko, told about how he saved the man who was held captive with several Ukrainian fighters, the youngest of whom was only 18 years old.

The occupiers tortured the prisoners, amputated their organs, and gouged out their eyes. This nightmare lasted until all who fell into their hands died. - said Ryutenko.

Vyacheslav had his throat slashed and was thrown into a pit with emaciated fighters. Despite this, he survived by using a piece of old linen to bandage the wound. The man managed to escape from the pit only after five days. After he returned to Ukrainian positions, he was taken to Mechnikov Hospital, where the doctors were amazed by his condition.

Assistance for freed soldiers from Russian captivity

A new law provides additional financial support to Ukrainian soldiers who have been released from Russian captivity. According to the law, they will receive a monthly payment of 50,000 UAH during the first three months of inpatient treatment. This will simplify the process of obtaining a certificate for injuries or illnesses sustained in captivity.
