Weather Forecast for Ukraine on January 27

According to Главком: The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has issued a warning for hazardous weather conditions expected across the country on Saturday, January 27. The forecast calls for widespread icy glaze, strong winds, and precipitation. However, the eastern regions, along with Sumy, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts, are expected to remain dry. In these areas, overnight lows will range from -11 to -16°C (12 to 3°F), with daytime temperatures between -8 and -3°C (18 to 27°F).

Conditions Forecast for Other Regions

Across the rest of Ukraine, light wet snow and rain are anticipated. Icy conditions are expected to develop in the central, most northern, and southern oblasts. Temperatures in these regions will hover between -5 and 0°C (23 to 32°F) both day and night. In the west, temperatures will vary from -2°C to +3°C (28 to 37°F). Daytime highs in Zakarpattia and southern Odesa oblast will reach +1 to +6°C (34 to 43°F), while in Crimea, temperatures could climb as high as +12°C (54°F).

Icy roads are forecast for the entire country except the south. A southeasterly wind of 7-12 m/s (16-27 mph) will prevail nationwide. Overnight, except in the far west, and during the day in the eastern oblasts, wind gusts may reach 15-20 m/s (34-45 mph). In Kyiv on January 27, cloudy weather with light wet snow and rain is expected, leading to icy roads. The capital will see temperatures from -3 to -1°C (27 to 30°F), with a southeasterly wind of 7-12 m/s. In Kyiv Oblast overnight, localized wind gusts of 15-18 m/s (34-40 mph) are possible.

These conditions pose a significant danger to drivers and pedestrians, as the icy glaze substantially increases the risk of traffic accidents.

Transport disruptions are also likely, particularly in the central and southern oblasts where precipitation is forecast. Residents are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution on roads and to account for the severe weather when planning any travel.
