Ukraine's Postal Service Offers Heavily Subsidized Parcels to Military Personnel
Ukrposhta Joins the 'Pluses' Program
According to ХВИЛЯ: The state-owned postal operator Ukrposhta has become a participant in the 'Pluses' program within the 'Armia+' (Army+) application. This initiative enables authorized military personnel to send parcels weighing up to 30 kilograms to or from front-line areas for a nominal fee of just 1 Ukrainian hryvnia. This subsidized rate applies to 'Priority' shipments destined for several frontline regions, including:
- Sumy
- Kharkiv
- Donetsk
- Zaporizhzhia
- Kherson
- Dnipropetrovsk
Terms and Discounts for Service Members
To use this service, military personnel must generate a special barcode within the 'Armia+' app and present it to a postal clerk. A key condition is that the 1-hryvnia rate is valid only if the parcel is pre-registered online. If the transaction is completed directly at the post office without prior online processing, an additional fee of 5 hryvnias will be charged.
Furthermore, Ukrposhta is offering a 25% discount on deliveries to other regions within Ukraine and for international shipments. This announced discount applies to domestic 'Priority' mail, international parcels, small packets, and EMS express delivery services. Each user can access up to three promotional codes per month for each type of service offered. This program is part of broader efforts to support Ukrainian forces and their families during the ongoing conflict, facilitating vital connections between the front lines and home.
Ukrposhta's General Director, Ihor Smilianskyi, stated: 'It is only natural for us to help military personnel more easily send and receive parcels from their loved ones, wherever they may be-in Ukraine or in 192 countries around the world.'
This move by Ukrposhta represents a significant element of support for service members and their families during wartime. The discounts and simplified delivery conditions can substantially ease communication and the exchange of parcels between soldiers and their relatives, which is crucial for troop morale. Integration with the 'Armia+' app also highlights the increasing digitalization of services, allowing for a more efficient response to user needs under challenging circumstances. Such initiatives can help strengthen the bonds between the military and civilian populations, an important factor for national unity and solidarity.
In addition to the newly introduced subsidized parcel service, Ukrposhta has implemented significant discounts for military personnel on various shipping options. This initiative further emphasizes the commitment to supporting those on the front lines, ensuring that they can stay connected with their families more affordably.
