Ukrposhta's Growth Strategy

According to Главком: Under the leadership of CEO Ihor Smilianskyi, Ukrposhta has implemented a strategy that now generates over 1 billion hryvnias in annual revenue from product sales in its branches. This revenue stream is a crucial part of the company's operations, especially as it serves approximately 1.9 million pensioners, for whom a postal worker's visit is often a significant social event. The state-owned postal service is planning to expand its offerings, drawing inspiration from initiatives pioneered by France's La Poste.

Commissions and New Services

Postal workers who sell these products earn a 5% sales commission, which is the highest rate available in the market. Ihor Smilianskyi noted that this allows employees to earn substantial bonuses. For instance, one postal carrier received a bonus of 6,700 hryvnias, while another earned just 4 hryvnias, highlighting the significant variance in sales performance among staff.

Further expanding its community role, Ukrposhta has launched a service for the home delivery of medicines to residents in the most remote villages of the Sumy and Chernihiv regions. This initiative underscores the company's ambition to broaden its service portfolio. Concurrently, Ukrposhta terminated its partnership with the clothing brand Rikky Hype following a controversy related to a Valentine's Day advertisement.

These moves illustrate Ukrposhta's strategic development toward improved customer service and adaptation to market needs.

The expansion into services like medicine delivery could significantly improve access to pharmaceuticals for isolated communities, representing an important social benefit. At the same time, ending the partnership with the clothing brand indicates the company's caution in selecting business partners, a decision that can impact its reputation and public image. This overall activity points to an active search for new opportunities for growth and business stability amid ongoing market challenges.
