Ukrzaliznytsia Fixes Record Demand: 4 People per Seat on Trains to the Sea and the Carpathians

U 'Ukrzaliznytsia' reported that the popularity of rail transportation has increased during the summer months. The soaring demand for trips to resorts and mountainous regions has led to overcrowding on all trains. According to the company, the number of passengers exceeds the number of available seats on trains.

'The demand for railway transportation now exceeds the technical capabilities of 'Ukrzaliznytsia'. For example, from July 1 to July 16, there were 30,000 seats available for the Odessa-Kyiv-Odessa route, but there were 125,000 requests for this route in the 'Ukrzaliznytsia' application. That's more than 4 people for each physically available seat on the train.'

It was also noted that parents are eagerly taking their children to the mountainous areas. The growth of children's tourism is 87%, and the number of children's groups going on trips is also impressive in volume. According to 'Ukrzaliznytsia', the railway has already transported 297,000 young travelers, most of whom are children of military personnel, displaced persons, and families of fallen defenders. This figure is twice that of the previous year's comparable indicator, indicating a high demand for railway routes in the summer. 'Ukrzaliznytsia' plans to expand the train network in August to meet the growing demand in the summer season.
