Ukrainian Railways to Restrict Train Service in Three Regions from February 3

Restriction of train movement in Ukraine
Залізниці України введуть обмеження на рух потягів у трьох областях починаючи з 3 лютого.

Ukrainian Railways Implements Travel Restrictions

According to Главком: Due to the ongoing threat of Russian military strikes, Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) will impose significant restrictions on train travel across three regions starting February 3, 2026. This decision follows recent direct attacks on the country's railway infrastructure, which remains vital for civilian movement and logistics.

Specific Route Changes and Alternatives

The restrictions will affect the Kharkiv region, where service on the Lozova - Barvinkove - Kramatorsk line will be suspended; a coordinated bus service will operate as an alternative. In Zaporizhzhia region, bus transfers will connect Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia. Despite shelling in the area, train service in the Sumy region, including through Konotop, will continue without interruption.

These security measures are a direct response to a deadly attack on January 27, when Russian forces struck a passenger train in Kharkiv region, killing six people. The drone hit a carriage carrying 18 passengers, though over 200 people were on the train overall. A further attack on Ukrzaliznytsia facilities occurred on February 2.

In light of these events, the railway company urges passengers to use the organized bus alternatives on the affected routes.

"We therefore ask passengers on this route to use the bus connection (a transfer has been organized)," stated company representatives.

Passengers traveling to Synelnykove or Zaporizhzhia are also advised to follow instructions from train staff and station personnel.

These limitations underscore the severe and persistent threat to civilian safety across Ukraine from Russia's military aggression. Ukrzaliznytsia is implementing these protocols to prioritize passenger security by organizing alternative transport. The situation in the impacted regions will be closely monitored, and passengers will receive updated information to ensure safer travel.
