Ukraine's Railway Network Expands Its 'Unbreakable' Warming Centers for Winter

Expanding the 'Unbreakable Points' Network

According to Міністерство інфраструктури: Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine's state railway operator, is expanding its network of 'Unbreakable Points' by opening new warming centers at railway stations to support people during the harsh winter. These facilities are a critical part of the national response to energy and heating challenges caused by the ongoing war. As of now, 97 of these support hubs are operating around the clock at railway stations, available to anyone in need of assistance.

To date, nearly 360,000 people have used the services at these station-based centers since the start of winter. During a severe cold spell after January 9th, approximately 65,000 residents received aid, highlighting the vital role of these initiatives. Furthermore, 40 stations have been equipped with special zones for parents with children, providing added comfort for families.

Future Plans for the Initiative

Ukrzaliznytsia plans to open an additional 50 Unbreakable Points to improve public service. Mobile support units, known as 'Unbreakable Carriages,' are already operating in Brovary, Fastiv, Boryspil, and Vasylkiv. In just six days of operation, these carriages have assisted nearly 3,400 people, offering crucial support in difficult conditions.

In a show of international solidarity, two 'Unbreakable Carriages' will be dispatched to the Polish city of Chelm, extending help beyond Ukraine's borders.

Oleksiy Kuleba emphasized: 'In difficult times, people should not face challenges alone. That is why the Unbreakable Points are not just about heating or charging devices, but real support for thousands of Ukrainians.'

The expansion of Ukrzaliznytsia's Unbreakable Points network is a significant step in providing social support during winter freezes. The substantial number of people already served demonstrates the necessity of ensuring safety and comfort for vulnerable groups, especially families with children. The opening of new fixed points and mobile carriages underscores a commitment to solidarity, both domestically and with neighboring nations, and a readiness to deliver aid in complex situations. This initiative highlights the indispensable nature of communal support during crises.
