New Financial Support Program in Ukraine

According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers is preparing a new financial aid initiative, which includes a one-time payment of 1500 hryvnias for vulnerable citizens in April, alongside the launch of a state-sponsored fuel cashback scheme. This program was developed under the directive of the President of Ukraine. These measures are part of ongoing efforts to provide economic relief during a period of significant strain.

The financial support program will cover approximately 13 million Ukrainians. The 1500 hryvnia supplement is designed to aid the most vulnerable groups, including:

  • Old-age pensioners
  • Disability benefit recipients
  • Low-income recipients of basic social assistance
  • Internally displaced persons (IDPs)
  • Families with children

The monetary aid will be disbursed as a one-time payment in April through a fully automatic process. Funds will be transferred to existing bank accounts, National Cashback cards, or distributed via Ukrposhta (the national postal service).

“The 1500 hryvnia supplement is intended to support the most vulnerable categories - old-age pensioners, disability benefit recipients, low-income recipients of basic social assistance, IDPs, and families with children.”

Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy

Regarding the state fuel cashback program, it will provide rebates of:

  • 15% on diesel fuel
  • 10% on gasoline
  • 5% on autogas (LPG)

The fuel discount can be utilized until May 1. The one-time 1500 hryvnia payment can be used for utility bills, groceries at supermarkets, or purchasing medicine. Final program details are expected to be presented in the coming days, with the disbursement process scheduled to begin in April of this year.

The introduced financial support program represents a significant step in providing social assistance amid the economic challenges facing Ukraine. Given its reach of roughly 13 million citizens, it could substantially improve the welfare of the nation's most vulnerable groups. Simultaneously, the fuel cashback initiative may assist motorists and ease the financial burden on families reliant on transportation for daily needs. Overall, these measures could form a crucial component of state policy in combating poverty and economic hardship in the country.
