Enhancements to Prosthetic Care in Ukraine

According to Кабмін: The Ukrainian government has introduced updated regulations for prosthetic services aimed at individuals with complex and multiple amputations. Manufacturers of prosthetics will now receive advance payments extended up to four months, and recipients are guaranteed delivery of their prosthetic devices within 90 working days. Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky emphasized that these reforms are focused on supporting both military personnel and civilians who have suffered limb loss in difficult circumstances. Importantly, prosthetic care under the state program remains free of charge.

Expanding Barrier-Free Routes Across Cities and Communities

In addition to improving prosthetic services, the government is broadening barrier-free pathways to facilitate easier access between homes, urban facilities, public transport, and memorial sites.

"We are expanding accessible routes within cities and communities to create smoother connections between residences, city infrastructure, and public transit. Routes will also be established leading to places of remembrance," stated Serhiy Koretsky.

A budget allocation of 385 million hryvnias has been designated for these infrastructure projects. These initiatives were approved following a specialized government meeting attended by the President's Commissioner for Accessibility, Tetyana Lomakina. The goal is to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities by providing greater opportunities for societal inclusion.

These reforms in prosthetics and accessible infrastructure represent significant strides toward integrating people with disabilities into Ukrainian society. Beyond improving medical service accessibility, they advance the creation of an inclusive environment where everyone has equal chances to lead active, fulfilling lives.
