The government has submitted a bill to the Parliament on ART: who will be able to benefit from free treatment
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a draft law regarding the use of assisted reproductive technologies. This document, which has been submitted for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada, will regulate the use of frozen reproductive material, donation of reproductive cells, surrogate motherhood, and other infertility treatment methods.According to the Ministry of Health, 197 children have already been born thanks to the state program for free infertility treatment using assisted reproductive technologies. Treatment is provided free of charge in 46 medical institutions in 13 regions and in Kyiv.The draft law provides for the right to apply ART for adults without medical or legal restrictions. Procedures for individuals over 49 years old are only possible with medical examination and the conclusion of a doctors' council. There are also restrictions for individuals with certain problems. The draft law also addresses the donation of reproductive material and surrogate motherhood.Thus, the government plans to regulate the use of assisted reproductive technologies in Ukraine, ensuring compliance with rights and restrictions in this area, as well as the possibility to receive infertility treatment for free within the framework of medical guarantees.
