Expanded Support for Internally Displaced Persons

According to Главком: The Ukrainian government has broadened its housing assistance program for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). New initiatives include a six-month extension of payments for the most vulnerable categories of IDPs. Notably, starting February 1, 2026, aid for children among the displaced will be granted regardless of family income, provided the application is submitted by May 1, 2026.

The procedure for reviewing payments for non-working IDPs has also been updated; this applies to those who previously had their aid terminated due to exceeding income thresholds. A critical detail is that for applications filed by May 1, 2026, the assistance will be calculated retroactively from January 1, 2026. This ongoing support is crucial as millions of Ukrainians remain displaced due to the ongoing war.

Funding for Housing Initiatives

An additional 7.7 billion UAH has been allocated by the government to fund housing programs for IDPs who have suffered due to the conflict in temporarily occupied territories. The majority of these funds are designated for compensation for lost property.

Furthermore, plans are underway to construct a modular housing settlement for IDPs in the Myronivka community, Kyiv region. As noted by Deputy Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, due to an increase in the subsistence minimum, internally displaced persons can now submit documents to have their payments reviewed.
