Over 15 Million UAH in UN Aid Allocated by Government to Equip School Canteens Across 203 Frontline Institutions

International Support Distributed to Upgrade School Food Services

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: The Ukrainian government has allocated more than 15 million UAH in assistance from the United Nations World Food Programme to supply equipment for school canteens in 203 frontline educational institutions across six regions. This effort aims to enhance student nutrition in areas severely impacted by ongoing military conflict.

The funding will be directed toward purchasing:

• kitchen appliances,
• necessary utensils,
• and other catering infrastructure for school dining facilities.

Benefiting schools are located in the Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv regions. The funds will be transferred to local governments as grants, ensuring schools have the resources needed to improve meal services for students.

Andrii Butenko, Ukraine's Minister of Education and Science, emphasized the critical role of school meal programs during wartime, stating: "In the context of full-scale war, school meals provide daily support for families and create better learning conditions for students." He also expressed appreciation to the UN World Food Programme for their ongoing collaboration and assistance.

This initiative represents a significant advancement in improving educational and nutritional conditions for children in Ukraine, particularly in regions still facing hardship.
