Ukraine Expands Energy Aid: How to Claim for Generators and Solar Panels
Programs for Energy Self-Sufficiency in Ukraine
According to Кабмін: The Ukrainian government is broadening its initiatives to help apartment buildings and private homes achieve greater energy independence. These programs offer state-subsidized loans and compensation for equipment that provides autonomous power. Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko has outlined the opportunities now available for condominium associations (OSBB), housing cooperatives (ZhBK), and individual households.
Support for Condominiums, Cooperatives, and Private Homes
The support program for condominium associations (OSBB) and housing cooperatives (ZhBK) is designed to maintain essential services during power outages, including the operation of:
- Elevators
- Water pumps
- Heating systems
- Water supply
- Lighting
Participants can access a preferential loan starting at 0% interest through 43 partner banks in the '5–7–9%' state program. The maximum loan amount for OSBB and ZhBK is up to 3 million hryvnias, with a repayment term of up to 3 years. The state will reimburse up to 50% of the cost of a generator and up to 70% for a solar power station or heat pump.
For private homes, the maximum loan amount is up to 480,000 hryvnias, with a repayment term of up to 10 years. In this case, the state compensation covers up to 30% of the equipment cost. Support for private households includes:
- Diesel, gasoline, and gas generators
- Batteries
- Solar power stations as part of an autonomous system
This initiative is a direct response to the ongoing challenges to Ukraine's energy infrastructure, aiming to provide citizens with reliable backup power. More detailed information about the support programs can be found on dedicated websites for OSBB and private homes.
The expansion of energy autonomy support is a crucial step for strengthening Ukraine's energy security, particularly given the threat of power outages. It will enable residents of multi-apartment and private buildings to reduce their dependence on centralized energy sources and ensure stability in daily life. Furthermore, these programs will foster the development of new technologies and help lower future energy costs.
