The government will establish a Bureau for the Investigation of Transport Accidents: what will change
According to hvylya.net: The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has supported the draft law on the establishment of a National Bureau for the Investigation of Transport Accidents. The initiative arose in the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.
'Currently, there is no special law in Ukraine that defines the legal foundations of an independent body for investigating transport accidents. There are also no uniform requirements for the individuals conducting such investigations and a clear legal basis for organizing such investigations. No less importantly, the adoption of the draft law will be an important step in fulfilling Ukraine's obligations under the Association Agreement with the EU and will bring national practices closer to European standards,' emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine - Minister of Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba.
The establishment of the National Bureau for the Investigation of Transport Accidents will contribute to increasing the level of safety in transport and reducing the number of accidents. It will also help improve Ukraine's international perception in the field of transport investigations and promote the country's participation in important investigations.
Main aspects of the draft law
- Unified approach to investigations;
- Acceleration of investigation procedures and increasing efficiency;
- Strengthening trust and transparency of processes;
- Centralized analytics and coordination;
- Increasing the level of safety across all types of transport.
The draft law also provides for amendments to several basic laws and codes in the field of transport to ensure the effective operation of the National Bureau for the Investigation of Transport Accidents.
Support for the law on the establishment of the National Bureau for the Investigation of Transport Accidents receives significant backing in the government, which will raise safety standards in transport and fulfill international obligations to the European Union.
