New Hub to Oversee Regional Resilience Plans

According to Главком: The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has established a Coordination Center to implement regional resilience plans and approved its operational framework. This move represents a significant step in bolstering the nation's energy security. The total cost for implementing energy resilience plans across all regions is 215 billion hryvnias (approximately $5.8 billion). This initiative comes as Ukraine continues to rebuild and harden its critical infrastructure against ongoing threats.

The newly formed Coordination Center includes representatives from:

  • relevant ministries and central executive authorities,
  • the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's parliament),
  • the Office of the President,
  • heads of regional military administrations,
  • state-owned companies, such as NPC Ukrenergo, NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, and JSC Ukrzaliznytsia.

The National Security and Defense Council has already reviewed and approved the energy resilience plans for all oblasts of Ukraine.

Key Focus Areas for the Center

Yuliia Svyrydenko, a government representative, stated:

'We are preparing to hold the first meeting of the Coordination Center this week. Together with the regions, we are strategically strengthening the country's energy resilience and preparing for the next winter.' - Yuliia Svyrydenko

Among the center's primary tasks are the engineering and technical protection of energy facilities, the development of distributed power generation, and ensuring uninterrupted heat supply, water supply, and wastewater disposal.

The creation of the Coordination Center underscores the Ukrainian government's efforts to address energy security challenges, particularly under current conditions. The energy resilience plans, endorsed by the National Security and Defense Council, are designed to ensure the stability of regional energy systems and proper preparation for the winter season. This coordinated effort is expected to have a substantial impact on the nation's energy infrastructure in the near future.
