Ukraine Allocates 22 Billion Hryvnias to Protect Vital Infrastructure Ahead of Winter

According to Кабмін: A meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine was held in Uzhhorod to discuss winter preparedness. Participants outlined key government priorities, which include:

• Protecting critical infrastructure,
• Developing decentralized power generation,
• Ensuring backup heating supplies,
• Maintaining stable water supply and sewage systems.

To safeguard 576 critical facilities, 22.1 billion hryvnias have been allocated. This substantial investment comes as the country continues to face attacks on its energy and utility networks.

Water Supply Projects Discussed

The congress also reviewed specific water supply initiatives. The cost of 26 projects across 10 communities is estimated at 12.7 billion hryvnias. Proposed solutions for water security involve:

• Creating looped network systems,
• Establishing backup nodal points,
• Procuring reserve equipment.
