Government Launches 'LightHome' Grant: Up to 300,000 Hryvnias for Apartment Building Generators

Generators for apartment buildings: get up to 300 thousand
Уряд запустив програму Світлий Дім: надається до 300 тисяч гривень на генератори для житлових будинків.

'LightHome' Program Aims to Support Citizens and Businesses

According to Главком: On January 28, the Cabinet of Ministers approved additional measures to aid citizens and businesses facing severe energy shortages, including the launch of the 'LightHome' program. This initiative is designed to fund the purchase of energy equipment for multi-apartment buildings, ensuring autonomous power supply during prolonged blackouts.

Financial Assistance Available Under the Program

State grants under the 'LightHome' program range from 100,000 to 300,000 hryvnias. This financial support is available to associations of co-owners of apartment buildings (OSBBs), housing and service cooperatives, and building managers. Funds can be used to purchase:

  • Generators
  • Batteries
  • Inverters
  • Other energy equipment

This initiative is expected to improve the energy resilience of local communities.

Applications for assistance can be submitted online via the 'Diia' platform. A commission under the Ministry of Development reviews and approves applications. It is important to note that allocated funds must be used within 45 days. The program will operate in communities under an energy emergency, starting with Kyiv and the surrounding region. This grant program is part of a broader government response to the ongoing energy crisis, which has been exacerbated by recent attacks on critical infrastructure.

It is worth recalling that following the attack on January 24, 2026, the Desnianskyi district of Kyiv became the epicenter of a major utility crisis. In the Troieshchyna area, approximately 600 high-rise buildings were left without electricity, water, and heating. City authorities are deploying additional 24-hour heating shelters. Furthermore, in the Teremky district of the capital, several apartment buildings have been without heating since January 9, with reports of damage to water and sewage pipes due to the prolonged cold spell.

'We are launching 'LightHome' – a support program for apartment buildings to ensure autonomous power supply during prolonged outages,' stated Yuliia Svyrydenko.

The 'LightHome' program is part of the government's comprehensive efforts to address the consequences of the energy crisis resulting from recent infrastructure attacks. Given the significant disruptions to the power supply, support for OSBBs and cooperatives can substantially ease residents' lives by providing access to autonomous energy sources. The introduction of this program demonstrates the authorities' commitment to responding to current challenges and the needs of the population.

'The commission under the Ministry of Development reviews and approves applications. Funds must be utilized within 45 days. The program will operate in communities with an energy emergency, starting with Kyiv and the region. The Ministry of Development will provide additional information on the start of the application process for assistance under the program,' a government spokesperson added.
