Ukrainian Defense Forces Target Russian Occupiers' Infrastructure

According to Главком: On June 1 and overnight into June 2, 2026, Ukraine's Defense Forces launched strikes against Russian occupation assets. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that the attacks hit the Ilsky oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar Krai, triggering a fire at the facility. Additionally, a Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile and gun system was struck in temporarily occupied Crimea, alongside a drone storage depot and UAV command posts in both occupied territories and Russia's Belgorod region.

Damage to Russian Military and Industrial Targets

Following a Neptune cruise missile assault on the Novoshakhtinsky refinery in Rostov Oblast, damage was confirmed to two primary crude oil processing units, with a fire also breaking out at the site. At the Saratov refinery, the AVT-6 primary oil processing unit was hit. In the area of Mizhvodne in Crimea, an occupier vessel-preliminarily identified as a degaussing ship-was struck.

The General Staff stated that Ukraine's Defense Forces will continue systematically taking measures to weaken the military-economic potential of Russian occupiers and compel Russia to end its armed aggression against Ukraine.

These strikes highlight Ukraine's ongoing response to Russian aggression and its efforts to reduce the enemy's military capacity by targeting critical infrastructure. The actions by Ukraine's Defense Forces reflect a strategy aimed at destroying resources used to sustain Russian military operations in occupied territories and within Ukraine. This could also influence the conflict's trajectory and international relations in the region.

In light of these recent operations, it is crucial to understand the broader context of Ukraine's military strategy. The strikes not only target Russian oil facilities but also disrupt supply lines critical to sustaining military efforts.
