The Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church celebrate the Dormition on August 15: how to congratulate your loved ones in 2025
Since the beginning of September 2023, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) have switched to the new Julian calendar. This means that the celebration of non-movable holidays with fixed dates will now take place 13 days earlier. For example, in 2025, the faithful of both churches will celebrate the Dormition of the Mother of God on August 15. The Dormition of the Mother of God is a holiday dedicated to the completion of the earthly life of the Virgin Mary. On this day, the faithful reflect on her bodily Assumption into heaven and her eternal communion with the Savior. Congratulate your relatives and loved ones on the holiday of the Dormition of the Mother of God by conveying bright emotions and words of care and love. May this holiday bring you joy and well-being, and may the Mother of God always protect you!
