Tragedy in Argentina

According to Главком: Authorities in Argentina are investigating the death of 42-year-old flight instructor Leandro Andrés Bertazzo, who jumped from a Cessna 150 without a parachute during a training flight on July 4 and died. His student, Rosario, managed to land the plane safely on her own and was unharmed.

The incident occurred near the town of Toledo in Argentina's Córdoba province. The instructor exited the aircraft at a high altitude with no parachute. Following a search operation, Bertazzo was found dead. Bertazzo, who had worked as a pilot in Chile, also held commercial pilot and flight instructor certifications.

Instructor's Final Moments

Eduardo Álvarez, owner of the Flying Parrot flight school in Córdoba, described the instructor's final hours:

“That day, we saw Leandro just like any other. He arrived cheerful, kissed everyone as usual. The only thing that stood out was that instead of driving his own car, as he always did, he asked a student to pick him up from the house where he lived with his parents in a neighborhood of Córdoba city.” - Eduardo Álvarez

Álvarez added that Bertazzo was 'an excellent professional, always upbeat, and admired by all his students.'

Local law enforcement and Argentine aviation authorities are now working to determine all the circumstances of the event. The investigation is focused on establishing the pilot’s motives and reviewing his psychological state before departure. Psychologists are also providing necessary support to the student pilot who experienced this tragedy.

This tragic event underscores the critical importance of aviation safety and raises concerns about pilots' mental and emotional well-being, which directly affects their ability to perform their duties. Examining the details of this incident could be a key step in preventing similar cases in the future and ensuring psychological support for both pilots and flight school students.
