Army+ App Adds New Course for Troops on HIV, Hepatitis, and Tuberculosis

Army+ Introduces 'Health Protection' Course

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: The Army+ app now includes a five-module training course titled "Health Protection: HIV, Hepatitis, and Tuberculosis". Designed for service members, it offers practical guidance on prevention, testing, vaccination, and treatment for HIV, viral hepatitis B and C, and tuberculosis. The course was developed at the urging of the Medical Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with the Ministry of Defense's Health Department and the charity "100% Life". Financial support came from the U.S. Government. This kind of training is especially useful for personnel working in high-risk environments.

What the Course Covers

The material explains how HIV, viral hepatitis B and C, and tuberculosis are transmitted and pushes back on common misconceptions about these infections. It also offers practical advice for situations that may come up during service, including ways to reduce infection risk in daily life and in the field, and while providing pre-medical assistance. The course also covers HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and explains how to obtain it without cost.

• When post-exposure prophylaxis is needed.
• How vaccination can protect against hepatitis B.
• How to get tested for HIV and viral hepatitis.
• How to recognize the signs of tuberculosis, get screened, and seek treatment.

The course also addresses treatment for HIV and hepatitis C, including important considerations for continuing therapy after a change of duty station. Army+ now offers 30 training courses in total, reflecting a growing emphasis on health education for the military. The information about the new course was published by Rubric, citing the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The launch of this training course is a significant step toward raising service members' awareness of infectious diseases and how to prevent them.
