In Ivano-Frankivsk, public transport will be free for one day

In Ivano-Frankivsk on May 7, travel on public transport will be free as part of the celebration of the 364th anniversary of the city’s founding. This decision was made by the executive committee of the city council. As reported by RBK-Ukraine.

Free transport in Ivano-Frankivsk: who can take advantage

It primarily concerns the public transport operated by the Electroavtotrans enterprise. On this day, residents and guests of the community will be able to use:

• trolleybuses;

• city buses of the municipal carrier.

Free travel will be in effect throughout the day without limits on the number of trips.

Private minibuses: what are the conditions for free travel

The changes will also partially affect private carriers, but not for all passengers. They were only recommended to join the initiative.

They can carry for free:

• passengers in national clothing.

Each carrier makes the final decision about participation in the action independently.

It should be noted that earlier in the city, the cost of travel was increased. Since April 16, the fare rose to 25 UAH depending on the payment method, including for transport cards and passes. The increase was explained by changes in fuel and energy prices.

At the same time, the cost of travel in Ukraine varies significantly depending on the city: in large regional centers, it can reach 25 UAH, whereas in some cities, such as Kharkiv, transport remains free.

It should be noted that Ivano-Frankivsk received new modern trolleybuses, purchased with the financial support of the European Union.
