According to glavcom.ua: One of the most interesting archaeological finds in Odessa is the artifacts of Genoese origin from the 14th century, uncovered during excavations at the Duke de Richelieu monument on Prymorsky Boulevard. These materials demonstrate the presence of the Italian Ginestra and the Ottoman fortress at this site. The excavations were conducted by students of the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University and employees of the Institute of Archaeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

According to the director of the Department of Culture of the Odessa City Council, this find has great historical significance and may become a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the future. There are plans to arrange the site of the findings and install an information plaque for explanations.

In 2025, it was confirmed that there could have been a stone fortress of Khadzhybei on Prymorsky Boulevard. This fact was revealed thanks to ground-penetrating radar studies and research by the rector of the South Ukrainian National University. At the same time, a container with human bones was found in Kyiv, causing outrage among law enforcement and the scientific community.
