Four inclusive three-section trams returned to Odesa: which route they operate
Four K1T306 three-section trams have returned to the full route No. 7 in Odesa after a test run. The trams connect 28th Brigade Street with the 11th station of Lustdorf Road. Previously, the operation of electric transport was restricted due to power supply issues. This was reported by the Odesa City Council.
The City Council announced the restoration of full operation of the multi-section trams on October 22. Before this, transport workers conducted a test run. Now, four low-floor trams from the Ukrainian manufacturer 'Tatra-Yug' are back in service on the line.
K1T306 trams in Odesa: capacity and accessibility
Each K1T306 is designed to carry up to 268 passengers and has 63 seats. The three-section design provides more space in the cabin, while the low floor facilitates boarding and alighting.
These trams are more convenient for people in wheelchairs, elderly passengers, and parents with strollers. The four trams have been returned specifically to the full route No. 7, which covers the direction from 28th Brigade Street to Lustdorf Road.
The operation of public transport remains dependent on power supply. For reserve transport, Odesa also received buses from Dnipro, which are planned to be used to duplicate electric transport during power outages.
Why three-section trams did not operate on the full route
The full operation of these trams on route No. 7 was halted in December 2025 following Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. In May 2026, two three-section trams were deployed on the shortened route No. 7K, from 28th Brigade Street to Starosennaya Square.
In April, the director of KP 'Odesmiskeletrans', Mykola Litovchuk, explained the restrictions by the high power consumption. Under those conditions, launching one multi-section tram required reducing the number of regular trams on the lines.
This could increase the intervals between trams, so the decision to deploy larger trams depended on the available capacity. Now, after the test run, their operation on the full route has been restored.
The return of four K1T306 trams concerns a specific direction and type of tram. Separately, the city is working on the prospective modernization of the tram network, particularly the main connection between the south and north of Odesa.
