Currently, Ukraine produces several times the amount of basic food items required by its internal market. For example, the nation harvested approximately 24 million tons of wheat, while domestic consumption is around 6 million tons.

Additionally, on the night of August 5, missile strikes hit production and logistics facilities of the 'Epicenter' company in Kyiv and its surrounding region, causing one fatality and injuring three others.

Vysotsky emphasized that “currently, there is no such need [to stockpile]. Products are physically available. Sometimes they may not appear consistently in stores, but they eventually reach all sales points.” The government is actively seeking alternative warehouse spaces owned by the state or municipalities to replace destroyed distribution centers and is exploring mobile logistics solutions to deliver goods without long-term storage.

Sunflower Oil Production and Price Stability

Ukraine produces about 5 million tons of sunflower oil annually, while domestic consumption is roughly 500,000 tons. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy conducts weekly price monitoring and has not observed sharp fluctuations in the cost of key food items, particularly in Kyiv. Vysotsky also highlighted that “we have four times more wheat than the internal consumption needs,” even though wheat exports have declined to 500–1,000 tons per month due to the closure of the 'Greater Odesa' port.
