Cold Front Brings Rain, Wind, and Cooler Temperatures to Ukraine Starting September 21

According to ХВИЛЯ: Beginning September 21, a cold atmospheric front will sweep across Ukraine, bringing rainy weather, gusty winds, and a drop in temperatures to between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius in most regions. This chilly and wet weather is expected to persist through the end of the week, with a gradual warming trend anticipated from September 26 onward.

Ukraine will enjoy sunny and mild autumn weather until Sunday, September 20. However, on Monday, September 21, the cold front will move in, causing rain and strong winds. Temperatures in the western, northern, and many central areas will fall to between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the southern and eastern regions, including Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk, will remain warmer on Monday, with highs ranging from 20 to 27 degrees Celsius. By September 22, the cooler air mass will extend to these areas as well.

Forecast and Advice for Kyiv

On September 21, Kyiv is expected to experience strong northwesterly winds, temperatures around 15 degrees Celsius, and the possibility of heavy rain. Rainfall will ease on September 22, but widespread heavy showers are forecast across Ukraine on September 23. The cold spell will continue throughout the following week, with warmer conditions returning starting September 26.

Ukrainian meteorologist Natalka Didenko advises: "Dear weather-sensitive friends, keep your remedies like Corvalol, Nurofen, Captopress, and comforting teas close at hand today."

She also highlighted that "Kyiv’s beautiful, sunny, and warm autumn day today will give way to cold and rainy weather tomorrow." Didenko recommends preparing umbrellas, sturdy footwear, warmer clothing, and a cozy blanket to stay comfortable during the chill.

But don’t worry-warmer weather is expected to return around the weekend of September 26.
