A Unified Body Identification Center Has Started Operating in Ukraine: How the Names of the Deceased Are Established
Today, a Unified Body Identification Center for the deceased started operating in Ukraine. According to the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, this center will help identify the severely unidentifiable bodies and uncover the names of those who died in the war with Russia. Procedures and information exchange with international partners will allow for the use of the best practices in the world.
The centralization of regional forensic bureaus and cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs have already yielded results: the identification of the deceased bodies has become faster and more efficient. For example, the project proposed by the Institute of Forensic Expertise is being implemented using biometric data from the State Migration Service, which allows obtaining results faster than with DNA analysis, saves resources, and simplifies the identification process.
