Warsaw's Delivery of Generators to Kyiv

According to Главком: Kyiv has received an additional shipment of 31 generators from Warsaw, bringing the total number of units delivered to 90. This equipment is intended to power buildings experiencing heating supply issues. A further batch of generators, purchased with charitable donations from Polish citizens, is expected to arrive soon. This aid comes as Ukraine's capital faces severe strain on its energy infrastructure following targeted attacks.

The first shipment of 59 generators arrived in the Ukrainian capital last Friday. Most of the equipment consists of diesel units with a capacity ranging from 10 to 64 kW. These generators were rapidly distributed to several districts of Kyiv to supply electricity to buildings where restoring heating has proven difficult.

Official Responses and Support

Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski personally contacted Kyiv officials to offer support. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko expressed gratitude to Polish friends for this critically needed assistance during the energy crisis. He noted that after recently appealing to international partners for help, Kyiv received a swift response from Warsaw.

  • Last week, Kyiv received its first batch from Poland-130 generators of various capacities, funded by donations collected by Polish volunteers.
  • Within just 10 days, approximately 60,000 Poles donated nearly 2 million euros to purchase this equipment.

This initiative underscores the solidarity between Poland and Ukraine, particularly in light of the energy challenges confronting Kyiv. The additional generators represent a vital step in providing heat and power to residents suffering from the energy crisis. The anticipated further assistance demonstrates active international support for Ukraine, which could prove crucial during the winter months.
