New Shipment of Storm Shadow Missiles Delivered to Ukraine

According to ХВИЛЯ: The United Kingdom is supplying Ukraine with another batch of long-range Storm Shadow cruise missiles, a move discussed during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s recent visit to London with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham. Although the new shipment was not publicly announced beforehand, it aims to enhance Ukraine’s defensive capabilities amid ongoing Russian aggression.

Storm Shadow missiles, manufactured by MBDA, have a range exceeding 250 kilometers and travel at high speeds close to the ground, making them difficult to intercept. Ukraine began receiving these weapons in 2023, and by late 2024, Ukrainian forces had deployed them against Russian military targets for the first time. In August 2026, Prime Minister Burnham revealed plans to provide Ukraine with blueprints to locally produce long-range missiles and to develop a cost-effective missile system independent of US components.

UK Support and Ukraine's Strikes on Russian Targets

The UK backs Ukraine’s strikes on Russian military facilities in retaliation for attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure. Sources speaking to Bloomberg emphasized that Ukraine’s use of long-range weapons against Russian sites involved in civilian and infrastructure attacks is a defensive measure. They also stressed the importance of enabling Ukraine to counter Russia’s increasing production of rocket drones and missiles.

Ukrainian strikes inside Russian territory resumed this past Thursday following renewed attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector. The UK government does not believe Ukraine should halt these retaliatory strikes as long as Russia continues its offensive. In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, President Zelensky expressed feelings of betrayal over a deal between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin that allowed Russian diesel fuel into the global market, as well as over an energy ceasefire and difficulties accessing SpaceX satellite technologies.

“I feel betrayed by the agreement between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin,” said Volodymyr Zelensky.

This latest delivery of Storm Shadow missiles highlights the UK’s ongoing commitment to supporting Ukraine amid escalating conflict with Russia. The strategic transfer strengthens Ukraine’s defense as it resumes targeting Russian military assets and underscores the critical role of international cooperation in safeguarding Ukraine’s security and resilience against aggression.

As Ukraine continues to face an escalation in Russian drone attacks, with over 260 strikes reported recently, the UK's commitment to enhancing Ukraine's defense capabilities becomes increasingly vital. This support not only includes the supply of air defense systems but also involves strategic military assistance aimed at countering the ongoing threat to Ukrainian sovereignty.
