Dismissal of Vasyl Maliuk from the position of head of the SBU
According to Главком: The Verkhovna Rada supported the dismissal of Vasyl Maliuk from the position of head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). This decision was made by the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, which voted for Maliuk's resignation. 12 parliamentarians supported this decision, 5 voted against, and 1 abstained. It is worth noting that earlier, on January 12, the committee refused to support Maliuk's dismissal.
Vasyl Maliuk resigned on January 5. After his resignation, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Yevhen Khmara as acting head of the SBU. Zelensky also signed decree No. 18/2026, which concerns the structure of the leadership of the Security Service of Ukraine. On January 9, a submission from the president regarding Maliuk's dismissal was sent to the Verkhovna Rada.
