Resignation of Ministers and New Appointments

According to Главком: The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will consider the resignation requests of Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov and Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal. President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed a new position for Fedorov – Minister of Defense. This decision was made in the context of discussing the operational format of the Ministry of Defense.

Mykhailo Fedorov, who is the First Vice Prime Minister, previously participated in the formation of the country's digital transformation. Denys Shmyhal, in turn, served as the acting Minister of Defense. The applications for their resignations have already been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada, which will consider them in the near future according to the established procedure, as reported by Ruslan Stefanchuk.

The Importance of Technological Defense

President Zelensky emphasized that the main principle in the activities of the Ministry of Defense should be that technological defense must preserve the lives of soldiers. In the context of military actions in Ukraine, it was noted that:

  • 35 thousand destroyed occupiers as of December 2025;
  • 30 thousand confirmed hits in November;
  • 26 thousand hits in October.

These figures highlight the importance of effective management of military resources in the conditions of modern warfare.

Should the resignations of Fedorov and Shmyhal be confirmed, it may indicate a new phase in the reorganization of the Ukrainian government, especially amid the ongoing war. Fedorov's appointment as Minister of Defense may ensure the integration of new technologies into the military sphere, which, according to presidential statements, is key to preserving the lives of Ukrainian soldiers. The challenges faced by Ukraine require swift and effective solutions in all areas, including digital technologies and defense.
