What is known about Operation 'Forest Gump'

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine summoned the head of the National Bank of Ukraine Andriy Pyshny to report on 'Sens Bank', which is involved in the case of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). The summon of Andriy Pyshny was voted for by 155 members of parliament. His speech before parliament is scheduled for August 20 at 11:00.

On August 19, 2026, NABU and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) began a special operation named 'Forest Gump', aimed at uncovering a criminal organization. The criminal organization may involve current and former members of parliament, high-ranking officials from the president's office, and other individuals. Within the framework of investigative actions, searches are being conducted at the home of member of parliament Vadym Stolar, who was elected to the Verkhovna Rada from the banned party 'Opposition Platform – For Life', as well as at the deputy head of the president's office Iryna M Udria.

Currently, NABU detectives are also conducting searches in the office of the supervisory board of Sense Bank, including the head of the board Mykola Hladyshchenko. During the searches, a document was found containing a plan for crisis communication regarding the work of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada. In addition, NABU released a fragment of an audio recording of conversations involving alleged participants in a corruption scheme.

The aim of the operation

The 'Forest Gump' special operation concerns the origin of 150 million UAH, which were allegedly contributed as collateral for a former minister and a figure mentioned in the case referred to as 'Mindycha', Herman Halushchenko. This situation is part of a large-scale investigation conducted by NABU in connection with crimes that occurred at the highest levels of government.

The 'Forest Gump' operation is an important component of the fight against corruption in Ukraine, as it concerns high-ranking officials and deputies whose status may complicate the investigation. The summons of the head of the National Bank to the Verkhovna Rada indicates the seriousness of the situation and its possible consequences for the country's financial system. It is important to monitor further developments, as they may affect political stability and trust in state institutions.

The ongoing Forest Gump operation sheds light on significant developments within the political landscape, as NABU intensifies its efforts to uncover corruption linked to high-ranking officials. As the investigation unfolds, the connections between the summoned NBU head and the ongoing raids raise critical questions about accountability and transparency in government operations.
