Tragedy Strikes in Bohodukhiv

According to Главком: A Russian drone strike on a residential home in Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv region, has claimed the lives of a 34-year-old war veteran and his three children. The family had only recently moved into the new house, having relocated at the beginning of February. The veteran, who had a disability and had lost half of one leg, perished alongside his two sons and daughter. This attack is part of a wider pattern of strikes on civilian areas in Ukraine's northeast, which have intensified in recent months.

The family was originally from the village of Skovorodynivka in the Zolochiv community. The wife of the deceased had previously lived in Oleksandrivka. The brother of the victim is also a serviceman who was demobilized after being wounded. Before moving to Bohodukhiv, the family resided in Nova Vodolaha. The man was only officially registered in Skovorodynivka.

Aftermath of the Drone Attack

The drone attack occurred overnight, completely destroying the residential building. Rescue workers at the scene recovered the bodies of the four victims from the rubble. The strike also ignited a fire covering an area of approximately 60 square meters. Psychologists were present at the site of the tragedy to provide assistance to those affected.

In connection with the tragedy, days of mourning have been declared in the Bohodukhiv community for February 11, 12, and 13. State flags of Ukraine have been lowered to half-mast on administrative buildings, as well as on the premises of enterprises and institutions. All entertainment and public events in the community have been canceled.

As noted by Viktor Kovalenko, an acquaintance of the deceased: 'This is a family from our community, from the village of Skovorodynivka. The father of the family fought in the war. He returned from the war with a disability, missing half of his leg, and had a prosthesis.'

This incident underscores the consequences of military actions for civilians, particularly for families who have already suffered losses and trauma due to the conflict. The tragedy in Bohodukhiv has not only caused outrage in the local community but has also drawn attention to the war's humanitarian toll, which leaves deep scars on people's lives. Amid the ongoing conflict, such incidents demonstrate the critical importance of working to ensure civilian safety and supporting war victims.
