Veterans in Ukraine Can Claim 1,500 Hryvnias for Sports via the Diia App
Sports Funding for Veterans: How It Works
According to ХВИЛЯ: Starting July 1 through July 20, veterans can apply for a quarterly sports payment of 1,500 hryvnias through the Diia platform. This initiative, part of the Veteran Sport program, covers the third quarter of the year. Updated rules for receiving the funds have been in effect since the second quarter of 2026.
Eligible applicants can receive this 1,500 hryvnia benefit up to four times annually. To qualify, individuals must hold the status of a combatant or a person with a war-related disability, be at least 18 years old, and have their status recorded in the Unified State Register of War Veterans. A verified taxpayer card is also required to log into Diia.
Application Process
To submit a claim, veterans log into Diia, navigate to the 'Services' tab, and select 'Veteran Sport.' The system then checks eligibility, and the applicant must provide their Diia.Card and submit the request. Funds are not credited instantly, and occasionally the system may lack complete personal data. In such cases, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs recommends contacting them directly to update information.
The money can only be spent on sports and health-related activities. It cannot be accumulated across quarters; unused balances from one period are returned to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs. Each new quarter requires a fresh application to receive a new payment. Through Diia, veterans can also apply for a one-time 2,000 hryvnia assistance, which has been available under updated rules since June.
This sports funding program is designed to promote physical fitness and social reintegration for former military personnel. Note that the new regulations, effective June 11, 2026, may affect how benefits are processed, so veterans should carefully review the program's requirements. This ensures they receive full support and can actively engage in the country's sports community.
In addition to the quarterly sports payments, veterans should also be aware of other financial support initiatives. For instance, the recent approval of Independence Day payments for veterans offers further assistance to those who have served. Understanding these various benefits can help veterans make the most of available resources.
