According to glavcom.ua: Two airlines, Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air, have decided to tighten the inspection of portable charging devices during flights. Now passengers cannot use external batteries, such as power banks, on board the aircraft. However, they can still have them in their carry-on luggage, but cannot charge devices during the flight. They need to be kept visible and not used in the air.

This decision was made due to the increasing number of incidents involving lithium batteries. According to information from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, 50 incidents related to charging devices are known. Batteries in luggage compartments or carry-on bags can be difficult to control and dangerous in case of fire due to their detection and extinguishing challenges.

Such a restriction was first introduced by the airline Air Busan after a fire last summer caused by a portable charging device on one of its planes.

Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air have imposed a ban on the use of portable charging devices on board aircraft for the safety of lithium batteries, which can be dangerous and difficult to extinguish in case of fire. This decision enhances flight safety and prevents possible incidents in the future.
