Elections in Moldova: PAS Sandu maintains leadership with a result of 43.47%
The parliamentary elections in Moldova concluded with the victory of the pro-European party 'Action and Solidarity' (PAS) led by Maia Sandu. According to the counting of 62.53% of precincts, PAS garnered 43.47% of the votes, maintaining its leadership.
Voting ended at domestic polling stations at 21:00 local time, with the counting of votes from the diaspora still ongoing. According to the Central Electoral Commission, PAS received 316,588 votes, while the 'Patriotic Bloc' received 210,373 votes.
The overall turnout was 1,591,000 voters, which is lower than in previous elections. Fewer people turned out to vote both in the diaspora and in pro-Russian regions of the country.
Maia Sandu and the PAS party are expected to maintain their leading position in parliament, although final results have not yet been announced.
