Law enforcement has detained a female suspect, and Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) is leading the investigation. The National Police of Ukraine and Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko have confirmed the details of the incident. The explosions occurred overnight on Saturday, beginning around 00:30 after a call reporting a break-in at a store on Danylyshyna Street. The first blast happened as the initial patrol crew arrived on the scene, and a second explosion followed the arrival of a backup unit. Preliminary reports indicate that improvised explosive devices were detonated, damaging a police vehicle and civilian transport.

The deceased officer was 23-year-old Viktoriia Shpylka, originally from Volyn. She had served in the Kherson region police before transferring to the Lviv region in 2023. In the autumn of 2025, Viktoriia married a fellow patrol officer. The suspect was apprehended in a district center, and the case has been classified as a terrorist act under Part 2 of Article 258 of Ukraine's Criminal Code. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the SBU's office in the Lviv region.
