The explosions occurred overnight on Saturday, beginning around 00:30 after a call reporting a break-in at a store on Danylyshyna Street. The first blast happened as the initial patrol crew arrived on the scene, and a second explosion followed the arrival of a backup unit. Preliminary reports indicate that improvised explosive devices were detonated, damaging a police vehicle and civilian transport.

The deceased officer was 23-year-old Viktoriia Shpylka, originally from Volyn. She had served in the Kherson region police before transferring to the Lviv region in 2023. In the autumn of 2025, Viktoriia married a fellow patrol officer. The suspect was apprehended in a district center, and the case has been classified as a terrorist act under Part 2 of Article 258 of Ukraine's Criminal Code. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the SBU's office in the Lviv region.
