Lukyanivska Metro Station Reopens Damaged Entrance

According to Главком: Kyiv's Lukyanivska metro station has reopened its second ground-level entrance after it sustained damage from shelling. This entrance, which leads towards the 'Kvadrat' shopping center, resumed operations on February 19th and will now be open daily from 5:36 AM to 10:27 PM. The station has been damaged seven times since the full-scale invasion began, with the most recent attack on its ground vestibule occurring on July 21, 2025. This reopening is part of ongoing efforts to restore Kyiv's critical infrastructure.

Ongoing Transport Disruptions and Repairs

The station's first entrance, located on Yuri Illienko Street, maintains its regular hours from 5:35 AM to 10:28 PM. It is important to note that all underground metro stations operate as 24-hour shelters during air raid alerts. Entrance door systems have been particularly vulnerable to attack damage, and plans are in place to replace the doors on the Yuri Illienko Street side soon.

Further complicating transit, a bus stop near Lukyanivska station was damaged on the night of November 14, 2025. In response, Kyiv's municipal services have begun removing a damaged fence near the station. This has forced trolleybus routes 6, 16, 18, 35, bus route 50, and several minibuses to drop passengers in an unsafe location due to the blocked stop.

The restoration of this metro entrance highlights the gradual recovery of Kyiv's infrastructure, which has been severely impacted by repeated attacks on the city's transport network. Municipal crews continue working to repair damaged facilities, a critical task for ensuring passenger safety and maintaining mobility during wartime. These repairs also contribute to the psychological well-being of residents and the slow return of normal urban life.
